Iwan Budiman, Director of PT Mayawana Persada, accepted the award in person and affirmed the company's core commitments from the main stage.

In today’s forestry landscape, global dynamics demand a decisive paradigm shift away from conventional extractive practices toward a science-based ecological framework.

The management of PT Mayawana Persada emphasized its continuous integration of cutting-edge silvicultural practices with landscape-level climate mitigation.

This proactive approach ensures every production cycle aligns strictly with long-term environmental conservation. Management added that the true value of industrial forestry must ultimately be evaluated through indicators of enduring ecosystem resilience.

This principle resonated throughout the TPA 2026 proceedings, which brought together provincial and regency/city policymakers.

Delivering Measurable Impact

PT Mayawana Persada holds key industry accreditations, including Sustainable Forest Management (PHL), IFCC/PEFC, SMK3 (OHS Management System), ISO 14001:2015, and the PROPER environmental performance rating.

Operating under a Forest Utilization Business License (PBPH) issued by the Ministry of Forestry, the company manages a concession spanning 138,240.4 hectares. The concession stretches across two sub-districts in Ketapang Regency and three sub-districts in North Kayong Regency.

Rather than utilizing the entire concession exclusively for commercial timber production, significant portions are dedicated to broader ecological functions—most notably conservation. The company's initial indicative conservation area spans 38,987.68 hectares.

The primary objective of this conservation reserve is to safeguard habitats for orangutans and other native flora and fauna. Monitoring and evaluation conducted by an independent survey team from the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Tanjungpura (Untan) Pontianak, confirmed that the orangutan population within the concession remains healthy and thrives exceptionally well.

"This thriving population is substantiated by camera trap footage deployed at key monitoring stations throughout the surveyed area," stated Iwan Budiman. The camera traps notably recorded an entire orangutan family unit comprising an adult male, an adult female, and their infant. "Capturing such footage is extraordinary, as documentation of complete family units in the wild is exceptionally rare," he added.

Furthermore, comprehensive assessments by Untan's Faculty of Forestry have recommended optimizing High Carbon Stock (HCS) conservation areas to an indicative 42,509 hectares—representing roughly 30% of the total concession—under an Integrated Conservation and Land Use Plan (ICLUP) adhering to global HCSA standards.

On the silvicultural front, Iwan explained that PT Mayawana Persada operates the most advanced and largest nursery facility in West Kalimantan, with an annual capacity of 44.5 million plantable seedlings.

The nursery deploys advanced vegetative cutting propagation rather than conventional wild-seed germination. This scientific approach yields superior, uniform seedlings characterized by robust root architectures, accelerated growth rates, and taller tree stems.

In social development, the company drives tangible impact through dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Community Development (CD) initiatives. CSR programs span education, healthcare, and cultural support, including honoraria for non-permanent teachers, academic scholarships, and the donation of ambulances to five neighboring villages.

Meanwhile, Community Development initiatives focus on localized economic empowerment and social harmony, such as broiler poultry farming workshops and non-timber forest product (NTFP) ventures, notably honey beekeeping. "We now harvest and package our own bottled pure honey, commercially branded as Madu Maya," concluded Iwan.
